This is the Egyptian dress. If you click on the picture, it will enlarge, and you'll see that the pattern is little Egyptian heads, some of which are winking at eachother. Its the sort of stealth pattern I like - something that's really fun and whimsical, but not immedietly apparent. I think someone "got it" on the subway home - A guy was looking at me, and then suddenly grinned from ear to ear. I like to think he was looking at the print on my dress and then it suddenly snapped into focus - as winking egyptians.

The fabric is vintage, a nice silky rayon I've had for a while, but was waiting until I felt confident to make something. This is my first placket, but it came out well enough.

Please excuse my facial expression. I am fundamentally incapable of smiling on cue. I try. And try. I thought all this posing would improve me in this regard, but it hasn't. Also note that I have taken the photo in a room other than the kitchen! The BF was still asleep when I was ready to leave for work, but I really wanted a photo... so I brought the camera in and nudged him awake to take the picture. He was a remarkably good sport about this.
