This is an easy-breezy dress I made mostly on a weeknight last week from Reprodepot Sundot, and finished sunday night while watching the Sopranos and Entourage. There are no darts in the bodice - its tapered at the bottom, and fullness in the bust is provided by pleats along the neckline, which scoops in front and back. Its got a nice looseness on top which I think will be great on 90 degree days.
I really need a good white or pink or purple belt to wear with this dress! I settled for a simple black one (which was my Mom's in the 80s, actually. She probably wore it with a shirtdress) and am wearing white open-toe slingbacks. My work back is a creamy vanilla color, so I am thus in total violation of the bag-shoes-belt match rule.
My visit to Philadelphia last weekend did not turn up the cornucopia of fabric I'd been hoping for - I left Gaffney's with only some white cotton pique (opaque and 1.99/yard - bound to be useful), bias tape, and thread. So I treated myself to a little payday spree at fabric.com - polka dots for dresses, and some slik shantung for my summer suit project. More on that later.

Hi Ariel! this is Stef from PSU. I read Sew Retro, and while admiring your dress today I realized that I recognized its model. Your dresses are all awesome! Glad to see that NYC is treating you well.

With all of your dresses, you should invest in a petticoat. You would then have two different looks for each dress. Not a huge 50's petticoat but one with just a little bit poof to get the look on the pattern jackets.

I'm looking for a good pattern right now. However, a new one by Simplicity needs 11 yards of tulle! I know that is def the wrong one for the look I want! :)

Hey Stef, glad you like my dresses! New York's treating me very well, or at least keeping me in Fabric.
