Ladies and Gentleman, Boys and Girls, Presenting, the one, the only... Circus skirt!
More vintage border prints from ebay. Not too many fabrics of this type come up, and I think I've nearly cornered the market, with the help of auctionsnipe. I only make such hubristic declarations in public because I think I can lay off hunting for this type of fabric for a bit: I have the medieval skirt, the hacienda skirt, the India skirt, the circus skirt, and intend to make a bullfighter skirt with my latest acquisition. That's enough. For now. Unless something really spectacular comes along.
A quiet weekend. In addition to the circus skirt, I also made a blouse (my first) and a shirtdress from this vintage egyptian print I picked up a few months ago and had been saving. More on that later.

Very nice skirt, as are all your dirndls. I inherited some beautiful floral border fabrics and will be making them into skirts, same as you have done. I look forward to seeing pics of your blouse and shirt dress.
It's so fun! Love the black background for this print.
Another nice use of a border print. Great work. I love the circus fabric, my mother was a clown so I am very drawn to circus and clown fabrics.
If you are looking for an alternative to the dirndls for your border prints you would like Simplicity 3841. It's a one pattern piece pleated skirt, which I just made. It hangs very nicely.
Aha! So you're the one who got the circus print last year! :-)
I have been fetishizing vintage border prints since I was a thrift-shopping punkette in the 80s.
You skirts look magnificent, but I too am searching for an alternative to dirndls. I'll check out 3841... Maybe see you at the cherry blossom festival this year?
