This is the weekends' acquisition from the 7th avenue flea.
I've drooled over vintage desks like this - I'm especially a sucker for the floating top. The drawers on the left lock, and both keys were included. The right support actually houses two bookshelves. The whole things is slightly curved, and is finished on both sides, so it could sit as easily in the middle of the room as against a wall.
Anyway, it was a bit of a stressercise, trying to get this home. Its too large for me to lift alone and the vendor didn't deliver. However, I got an incredibly nice and helpful car service driver who helped me load and unload. He was so much nicer and accomadating than he had to be, and thats pretty rare. I tipped very well.
Below is a little suit from eggplant colored wool gabardine, from fabric.com. The jacket is the same pattern as the corduroy houndstooth, with a vintage fur collar I had basted on. The skirt is the same straight pattern I've made several times. Looking at the jacket, there are a few things I need to fix but overall I'm quite pleased.
