As promised, more of the many unblogged projects! This is McCalls now OOP 5936, which I've made before. Its a great pattern, but what makes it so great is the peplum.... which is totally not visible on the package front. Maybe if they'd made the peplum more prominent it wouldn't be an OOP?
As noted, I've made this before. It goes together really easily. Princess seams are my friend. All the work is in the cutting, and I love not having to do darts. The only place where I depart from the directions is that instead of lining the peplum with lining material, I line it with the fashion fabric. I also used a little but of interfacing at the cuffs to help them hold their shape. This particular version is made of a midweight linen from Gorgeous Fabrics, and lined in a bright blue silk habotai, also from Gorgeous Fabrics. The buttons are coconut shell ones left over from another project - I bought them at M+J about 5 years ago or so.
I made this jacket early in the Summer, and its been a real workhorse. I wanted some additional not quite suit options, as well as something to wear with jeans. I'd actually bought the peony linen several years ago to make a dress (now retired) and thought of it when I was planning the jacket. It was still available, so I bought more! Today is probably its last wear before it goes off for dry cleaning and then gets filed on the out of season side of the closet.

I love the pop of blue in the lining!
Totally adorable! I love the peplum, gotta make myself one of these someday. Congratulations on your engagement from me as well; I hope you have a wonderful wedding!
Love the lapels on the jacket and great colour.
