Happy 4th of July!
To celebrate, two cotton work dresses. I have a habit of starting to hoard summery cotton prints starting in January and by the time summer actually rolls around, I usually have more than enough cottons to keep me sewing all summer! I've been sewing up my winter stash and am maybe about half way through, if you don't count residual fabric from last summer.
Here are two dresses I made to wear to work. Both are made from TNT patterns. The first is a polka dot number. It was inspired by a kate spade dress I saw in a lot of ads but has since dissapeared from the website. Its OK though, it was pretty much a black and white polka dot sheath dress! Barring finding a nice polka dot shantung (which has sadly eluded me. and if anyone knows where to find one, TELL ME!), this cotton works well.
The shoes are these really great retro Delmans i've had for years. Super comfortable too!

The second dress is fabric from the newest Amy Butler collection, Love. I just LOVED the color palette - its so lush - and the colors really work for me.* This is possibly my current favorite summer dress.

I haven't gotten as much sewing done over the holiday weekend as I'd like, but thats because I tacked some vacation days onto the holiday and went to Chicago to visit my best friend. It was a great trip and very overdue. Well worth trading sewing time for!

*Please keep in mind that I look far redder (and shinier) than normal in most of my photos! I take most photos in the morning before leaving for work. Most mornings I work out, which especially in warmer weather makes my face all red, and it takes a while to subside.

Love the polka dot dress. I'm betting dots will be huge in Australia - our brand new female prime minister has come out twice wearing black and white giant polka dots.

I too love the polkadot dress. It's so lovely. The other one is too, ofcourse. Cute colours, very romantic.

What great new dresses!!! You are going to need them this week due to the heatwave we are currently experiencing!

I can't wait to find a pattern with a fit I love enough to use it for a TNT. These dresses are fabulous, and look great on you.
