This past weekend I worked (and travelled) on saturday. Saturday night, when I finally got home around six, I took advantage of the dog being at the doggie hotel to not leave the house (normally I would have to leave the house to walk the dog). I threw together this skirt. Its made of the same B&W houndstooth baby whale corduroy as a jacket I posted a while ago - I had just barely enough left from the jacket to make the skirt.
Rather than my usual Simplicity Retro straight skirt pattern, I used a new (old) 60s simplicity. The pattern I'd previously used only had single darts on the front and back, while the new one had double darts. In addition, the new one really fit at the waist while the older one didn't really come in enough. I wear a lot of vintage sweaters, which tend to be shorter, so its important to have skirts that fit at the true waist if I don't want to be flashing my pale belly (or slip) to the world. That said, please excuse my slip in the photo!
I was very happy with how this turned out. The first time it was too small with the waistband, but I cut approximately the top half inch off the skirt (and the pattern as well, for future use, which gave me the extra 1.5" of waist room I needed. I actually made another one, fully lined, out of aubergine wool gab on sunday - pics TK.

Nice skirt! Looks like it will go with everything.
